We’re getting ready to reimagine the Kyneton Skatepark — and we want to hear from you.
Whether you skate, ride, scoot, walk past the park, or simply want to see great youth spaces in Kyneton, your input matters.
The project will include a new skate park, a pump track, and additional youth‑focused spaces, shaped by the people who will use and enjoy it most.
Why are we upgrading the skatepark?
The current skate facilities are worn and outdated and no longer meet the needs of Kyneton’s young people or the broader community. The upgrade has been identified as a short‑term priority in the Macedon Ranges Shire Skate and BMX Strategy 2023, which aims to provide high‑quality facilities across the shire.
Funding from the Australian Government has been secured to support both the design and construction of the new facility.
Council has appointed Convic, specialist skate and youth space designers, to lead the design process.
How you can get involved
This is your chance to help shape how the new skate park and surrounding spaces will look and work — including elements like the skate park layout, pump track features and basketball half court — before the design is finalised.
Some things are already set and can’t be changed, including the site location, overall budget, safety requirements and the project scope, which must align with the Skate and BMX Strategy.
After this initial design phase, we’ll come back to the community with the final designs and ask for feedback to make sure we’ve got it right.
You can have your say in several ways:
🖱️Complete a survey
2/2/26 update: Please note that since after this survey was initially launched at about 10am on 2/2/26, two inconsistencies were identified between this online survey and the hard-copy form also being offered, which we have now addressed as at 5:45pm. These changes are:
- Tweaking the 'What is your favourite style of skate park?' question from a single-choice 'Choose one option only' response to a multiple selection 'Select all that apply' response.
- Tweaking the two ranking-based questions ('What additional passive amenities are most important to include...' and 'What other future active recreation is most important...') to rating-based questions, where each element can be individually ranked on a star scale of 1-5 (noting that this is 0-5 in the hard copy form).
We acknowledge that there had already been a small number of online submitters fill out the form to this point, and we apologise for these late tweaks, however we are confident that the data provided prior to these tweaks will still be valuable in the context of this consultation.
ℹ️Attend a workshop
The workshop will kick off with a short presentation from the Convic team, followed by hands-on opportunities to share ideas, provide feedback, and collaborate in small working groups, making use of the design aids provided by the team. The outcomes from these activities will assist the team in developing the initial concept design.
- When: Tuesday 10 February 2026, 5:30pm-6:30pm
- Where: Kyneton Mechanics Institute, 81 Mollison Street.
Another workshop in the next stage of this process will seek feedback on the concept design.
👩🏫Getting schools involved
We’ll be visiting a number of local schools to ensure young people’s voices are included. If you would like your school to be involved, call Daniel Hall on (03) 5422 0333 or email facilityprojects@mrsc.vic.gov.au
