Background

As you will be aware, Macedon Kindergarten is undergoing a major refurbishment in Term 1 2026.

To continue the kinder program during construction, Council's Early Years team has made every effort to find an alternative location within a reasonable distance to Macedon township.

Options investigated have included Macedon Primary School, Mount Macedon Primary School, Jubilee Hall, Macedon Mount Macedon Community Hall, CWA Hall Mouth Macedon, and Macedon Community Centre.

Unfortunately, the above options were found to be not viable due to lack of availability, safety concerns (traffic, train tracks, lack of fencing), and inappropriate facilities for children (e.g. shared bathrooms).

As a result, we have shortlisted our options to Swinburne Avenue Children’s Centre in Gisborne, or Lancefield Children’s Centre in Lancefield.

These locations allow for the same timetable and teaching staff across the year, and are child-friendly spaces approved as existing licensed kindergartens.

While options are limited, we are asking families to have their say on the preferred location for Term 1.
