Snapshot: what we've heard

18 June 2026

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback as part of the Policy review.

We received valuable input from community members across the shire, and local young people through the 2026 Youth Summit.

Overall, feedback showed strong support for public art that reflects local identity, enhances public spaces, celebrates creativity, and strengthens community connection.

All feedback is now helping to shape the draft Public Art Policy and we’ll be in touch at a later date with updates on the Policy, including how community feedback influenced the final document and opportunities to learn more about the next steps.

Here’s a snapshot of what we heard

  • The community wants public art that reflects local stories, landscapes and First Nations perspectives.
  • Transparency and clear decision-making are important priorities.
  • Safety, quality, maintenance and site suitability were identified as key considerations for future public art projects.
  • Many people asked for a more user-friendly and practical policy, with clearer guidance and plain-language explanations.
  • Respondents also highlighted the importance of clearly defining roles, responsibilities and long-term management of artworks.
