What has happened?
16 October 2023 | Council notified of Romsey Football Netball Club’s intention to submit an application to operate 50 electronic gaming machines at 90 Main Street, Romsey to the VGCCC. |
25 October 2023 | Council decision to notify the VGCCC of its intention to prepare a submission on the application, including a Social and Economic Impact Assessment (SEIA). |
26 February 2024 | The VGCCC provided Council with official notification of the application for a new gaming premise at Romsey Hotel. Under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003, Council had 60 days from receipt of this notification from the VGCCC to deliver a Social and Economic Impact Assessment submission. |
15 March 2024 to 5 April 2024 | Council conducted a survey of Romsey residents to understand the level of community support for the application. |
24 April 2024 | Council unanimously endorsed a submission to the VGCCC, opposing the application. |
21, 22, 24 and 28 May 2024 | VGCCC public hearing held to consider the application. |
21 June 2024 | VGCCC decision to refuse the application announced. |
17 July 2024 | VGCCC reasons for refusal made available. |
