Council undertook a survey via independent company Insync, to assist with transparency and integrity.

Individual survey results will be completely private and de-identified by Insync, to ensure we are getting a survey sample that is representative but private.

Council used a publicly available database from the Victorian Electoral Commission (2020 Electoral Roll) to target letterbox drops to all Romsey residents and those within five kilometres of 90 Main Street, Romsey.

Each registered voter within a household should have received their own unique survey and code.

There will be people who have moved to the area more recently or turned 18 and are newly eligible to vote who were not captured in this, and were invited to "opt in" to receive a survey.

Council communicated the survey through other targeted means to the Romsey community (and those within 5km of the Romsey Hotel, 90 Main Street, Romsey) with a call to action for any eligible residents to “opt in” if they hadn't received the survey via the mail out.

Residents were required to provide proof of residency.

Eligible residents were asked to vote once only. This could be done via a postal survey or by scanning the unique QR provided in the survey pack.

For the purposes of this survey, Council received specialist advice that the VGCCC sought direct feedback from those within the town/5km radius of the venue.

That said, if residents outside of the survey area wanted to share their opinion on the application, they can make a direct submission to the VGCCC.

Anyone with an interest in an application can make a submission to the VGCCC. The VGCCC recommends third parties make their submission through the established portal link for this application. When making your submission, keep in mind that the Commission must assess the impact of the specific proposal, not the impact of gambling in general.
