Romsey Hotel application decision pending following hearing

29 May 2024

The Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) will now decide on the outcome of the application for 50 electronic gaming machines for 90 Main Street Romsey following a hearing that concluded on Tuesday 28 May 2024.

A panel of three commissioners including Chair Fran Thorn, Deputy Chair Andrew Scott and Commissioner Claire Miller, heard evidence submitted by the applicant, Romsey Football Netball Club, and those opposing the proposal including Council.

Representatives presented evidence to the panel as informed by findings from the Social Economic Impact Assessment (SEIA) and community survey recently conducted by Council.

The hearing was initially scheduled for three days, however was extended to a fourth to ensure all presented information could be adequately heard. Local community members were also in attendance across the four days, with two community members presenting information to the Commission for local context.

A decision is set to be determined by 24 June 2024.
