Council to survey Romsey residents on gaming proposal

19 June 2024

25/6/24: This update has been superseded by another update on 25/6/24, following the VGCCC's decision on the application. The proposed phone survey is now on hold.

From late June to early July, Macedon Ranges Shire Council will be conducting a phone survey of Romsey residents in relation to the proposed establishment of electronic gaming machines at 90 Main Street, Romsey (Romsey Hotel).

The survey will ask residents for their views on an application to extend the Romsey Hotel and install 50 electronic gaming machines at the premises.

Council wants to obtain additional sentiment around the application, to build on a postal survey conducted earlier in the year and ensure we can make well-informed decisions on behalf of the community, in anticipation of the VGCCC’s decision.

Our survey facilitator, AEC Group, will be facilitating randomised calls to residents within a 10km radius of the hotel – a broader sample size than the earlier survey to capture a broader audience – and conducting a phone survey. The surveyor will clearly identify themselves and that they are facilitating the survey on behalf of Council, with the survey optional to those who receive a call. We are aiming for a minimum sample size of 300 residents for this survey.

If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Council on 5422 0333.
